I am a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) in Iowa, a licensed mental health practitioner (LMHP) in Nebraska, and a certified drug and alcohol counselor (CADC) in Iowa. I received my Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology in 2007 from the University of South Dakota. Since that time, I have worked with a variety of clients including children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families.
While I am trained in EMDR, I also have extensive experience in cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and solution-focused therapy. My goal is to provide clients a safe, nurturing, and encouraging environment where they can be empowered to make necessary changes as well as gain tools to sustain those changes. I believe this is done through facilitating clients in gaining skills in self-awareness, mindfulness, and developing new ways of thinking about feelings and events.
My clients currently range from young children to adults, but my primary focus is on adolescents, adults, and couples. Depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, and life transitions (such as divorce, empty-nest, parenthood, etc.) are some of the concerns with which I have helped clients.
Years of serving children, adolescents, adults, and families has taught me the importance of working collaboratively with clients to find the right therapeutic approach. Clients are the experts on their lives and together we can work toward healing and creating a balanced life. Please reach out and we can collaborate on how I might help you on your journey to health, healing, and creating a balanced life.
