I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist(LMFT) in the state of Iowa. I graduated with my undergraduate degree from University of Northern Iowa in 2005 and went on to complete my graduate degree from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota in Marriage and Family Therapy.

Since that time, I have been providing therapy services to individuals, couples, families, and groups. In 2012, I opened my private practice, Meylor Therapy Services, LLC.

One of the favorite parts of my job is that I get to work with individuals from a variety of backgrounds.  I love the opportunity to meet new people and I thoroughly enjoy getting to know each person or family’s story and helping them live their best lives. My clients range in age from young children to retirement years although most of my clients tend to be adults and couples. Some of the issues addressed in therapy include anxiety, depression, life transition, trauma, personal growth, blended family issues.

When I work with children, I include parents and at times siblings. I only get a child for an hour a week. Parents have them all week long. The biggest changes for children come when I am able to help parents help their children.

I see many types of couples in my practice: some are married, others are dating, some are living together, some couples are heterosexual others are homosexual. The reason’s they come to therapy vary; struggling with communication issues, an affair, empty nest, retirement, or parenting.

Coming to therapy is not an easy task and can be scary and overwhelming at times. I admire the courage it takes clients to face their fears and trust another individual with the most sensitive areas of their lives. If you have any questions about my style of therapy or my practice, please reach out and ask.

I am married and the mother of four children through both birth and adoption. I have found that being married and parenting have offered me both the greatest joys in my life and some of the greatest challenges. Each day offers a new opportunity to learn and grow and just when I think I have it figured out, life lets me know otherwise. I guess part of the fun is learning to take it all in stride.
